Student Politics in Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University

After the establishment of Ravishankar University, from 1974 to 1988, in total 11 times, the student leader of Brahmanpara has held this post in the election of the university president 7 times. Till 1983 Ravi Shankar University was the only university in Chhattisgarh. At that time about 77 colleges came under it. In the election of the University President, the President of the student union of these colleges and the UR University Representative used to elect the University President together. For the first time in 1974, Vyasnarayan Divide was elected as the President of the University. After this, in 1975, Dr. Prakash Shukla was elected the President of the University Students’ Union, this was the period when young student leaders emerged in the country. Emergency was imposed in the country in 1975, due to which university student union elections were not held for two years. Dr. Raipur’s kept and also became its president. After the removal of the emergency, that student leader emerged in the university student union elections who gave a new direction to student politics. Ashwini Dubey defeated Rameshchandra Ahuja in this election. The politics of Dubey and Dabangai started, on this basis, he got the ticket of MLA from the Janata Party from the Dharsiwa assembly and got elected as MLA. First university student union leader who is a legislator, famous and domineering. In the subsequent election, Sheshnarayan Shukla of Brahminpara defeated the candidate of Maudhapara Raipur, the present cabinet minister of Chhattisgarh, Mohammad Akbar. Defeat in its place later, the close friendship of Sheshnarayan Shukla and Mohammad Akbar always remained. 1978-79 Uday Chandrahas Dubey, a new student leader of university student politics, became the university president. At the same time, Ajit Jogi was the Collector of Raipur, he looked at this student leader and from here Arjun Singh in Chhattisgarh, who was the Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh at that time. He came to Raipur and Chandrahas Dubey remained associated with Ajit Jogi from that time. After resigning from the post of Ajit Jogi Collector, Rajya Sabha MP from Congress, he remained his most trusted Chandhas Dubey in Raipur. A living-hearted and cheerful person, he also had his own gang. In Khokhan Dada, Mahitosh Sharma, and many other powerful people were there. The 1983-84 University Students’ Union elections were a phase of politics when two fierce opponents joined hands and defeated the third one. Brijmohan Agarwal fielded Ashok Pandey against Anil Dubey of Brahmanpara for the University President. In this election, there was a pact between Maudhapara and Brahminpara and Anil Dubey won the election. Anildubey was very active in student politics. His two brothers Ashutosh and Mutyujay Dubey were also active in student politics. Anil Dubey participated in the Puthk Chhattisgarh state-building movement and also formed a political party, it is said that his deep penetration in the industrial sector continues even today. After this, the election of the University Students’ Union of 1984-85, in which the candidate contesting for the president’s election did not get a single vote apart from his vote. The election witnessed strange dilemmas, accidents and murders. Yogendra Shukla was made the candidate from Brahmanpara, in front of the opposition there is no strong candidate. Simon Arif filed a nomination in protest. A student leader of Jagdalpur, who was campaigning in support of Brahminpara in this election, died on the road. In the election season, and Yogendra Shukla’s one-sided victory, Bhilai’s student leader Babe filed his nomination for the post of University Vice President in this election, but he was defeated. In this election, Vrindasih, president of Kalyan College Students’ Union, supported Brahminpara and Magusihi Purohit of Brahminpara won the post of vice-president. Baba was shocked by this and on the same day, Vrindasih was murdered on the premises of Kalyan College. The tragic murder of a great cricketer and a promising student leader. The rise of a new student leader in the election for the post of University President in 1984-85, who started his journey from student politics and is still active in politics. Pramod Dubey became the University President by defeating the undefeated student leader, Maudhapara dedicated student leader Jaggu Singh Thakur. And in future politics, the strong leader of the Congress party. President of Raipur Youth Congress, three times councilor, once mayor, and currently chairman of Municipal Corporation Raipur. Domination of the Dubey people in the history of University Presidents that 4 Dubey people became president. Ashwini Dubey and Chandrahas Dubey both were real brothers from a family. Time passed slowly and the present of that time has become the past today. The golden moments of the politics of that era have now become just memories.
Student leaders of that era respected Dr. Prakash Shukla, Ashwini Dubey, Chandrahas Dubey, and Sheshnarayan Shukla left this world. On the go, a university president had started casinos in Raipur.
