JUMA MASJID, Kalbadevi

This is one of the historical masjid built 218 yrs in 1802 by konkani Muslim merchants trading to Goa & Calicut. Speciality of this masjid is it is built on a big water reservior without filling it.This reservior is seen from ablution tank (Wazukhana). It is one of the old biggest masjid in Mumbai located opp. to Mangaldas market.

It is derivable from the chronogram Jahaz-i- Akhirat, “The ship of the world to come” which contains an allusion to the fact that it was constructed on the tank.

In 1814 its 1st floor was constructed by Mohammed Ali Roghey Nakhuda, a konkani merchant.
